Gergő Kardos joined Formula Motocast ahead of the 2026 S1GP Hungarian Grand Prix to discuss the sport of Supermoto and his own route into racing. Tamás Kis, the event’s press officer, also took part in the conversation.
Kardos explained that he started riding at the age of 13 and gained international road-racing experience from the age of 15. He later moved into Supermoto, achieved strong results in the Hungarian championship and became national champion in 2024.
Following his 2025 S1GP appearance at Visonta, the S4 class offered an attractive new challenge. With no off-road sector, S4 places greater emphasis on the asphalt techniques he had developed earlier in his career.
The discussion also covered physical preparation. Alongside time on the motorcycle, Kardos described running, cycling, swimming and gym work as important elements of training for Supermoto’s short but demanding races.
The interview was recorded before the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix. Any targets discussed in the programme therefore refer to his ambitions at that point, not to subsequent race results.
