Gergő Kardos opened the 2026 S4 European Championship round at Visonta with an impressive fifth-place finish. Racing as number 164, the Hungarian rider worked his way through the international field in Saturday’s opening race.
He finished ninth in the first Free Practice session before setting the third-fastest time in the second. In changeable and occasionally wet conditions, he qualified eighth for the race.
Kardos gained positions during the first half of the contest and ran as high as fourth. He lost one place towards the finish but still took the chequered flag in a strong fifth position.
It was the best result for a Hungarian S4 rider that day, with Zoltán Kovács finishing sixth. Italian rider Alessandro Ciaretta took the race victory.
The result underlined Kardos’s ability to compete near the front group in a closely matched international field. Two further S4 races remained on Sunday in front of the home crowd.
